Tracking for Fun
If you've got a dog that needs an outlet for it's energy then look no further than enrolling them in this unique course of scent tracking. This wonderful activity uses their mind and body and really focus' their attention on the task in hand in a calming way. It's also a very natural behaviour as all dogs possess the ability to sniff something out, so it doesn't matter what your breed of dog, they just need to have a love of food or toys to have a go.
The aim of this type of activity is build the bond between you and your dog. To get the best results you need to work as a team. You'll gain a new insight in to understanding some of your dog's behaviour and discover many natural talents of your dog. Whilst most of the training is done on a long line (so a 100% recall isn't necessary), you'll find your dog will become more enthusiastic about the task you have given him, than any distractions that may come your way. No prior experience is necessary. Dogs over 6 months of age welcome.
The course is run as 1.5 hour sessions on a Tuesday evening in the Papamoa/Tauranga area from 6:00pm. We may use a slightly different location each week to give the dogs a new challenge on 'fresh' ground.
What you'll need:
A secure collar with name/council tag
A regular lead
A long line lead over 10m
Plenty of water for your dog
A variety of tasty treats and plenty of them
Their favourite toy
Sturdy and ideally waterproof trainers
