Adopt a Dog
Can you help any of these dogs who a looking for a new, loving, permanent home? Sometimes, for various reasons, a dog needs a new home and if you think you can offer that new home then get in touch.
Snow - the Hunterway x Collie
Whilst Snow has been waiting for his forever home he's been learning just what life is all about. Rescued from the dog pound on death row, he took time to adjust to to a normal doggy life. Being partially deaf (that's why he's white) he must have found things very confusing. But in his foster home he's growing in to a handsome, large dog who is incredibly smart.Despite his deafness he leads a normal doggy life and spends heaps of time off lead and comes back too.
At just a year old he knows 'sit','paw', 'down', 'wait', 'quiet', 'come', 'find it' and more, all through hand signals and body language. He really loves running next to you on a bike. He can sometimes be anxious around food (understandable when he was underweight at the pound) so it's preferable he doesn't live with children or another dog (some exceptions may be made for the right dog). He's fine with confident cats. He is incredibly friendly with people, kids and other dogs when out and about and loves to play. He's desperately looking for an experienced, active home used to vocal working breeds. He needs space to run around and play ball. You'll need to be keen to continue with his training. He really is one of a kind, full of personality and he really deserves a loving permanent home. Could you be what I'm looking for? Rocky - the Samoyed
Rocky is a beautiful Samoyed looking for the perfect calm and quiet home where he can relax and be the center of attention.
The decision for the current owners to rehome has been incredibly difficult and whilst when they adopted him they had his best interests in mind, it has become clear that living with lots of other dogs is just too much for Rocky. Rocky has had a tough few years. Coming from Christchurch and the earthquakes, soon after he was handed in to rescue as the family no longer wanted him. His condition was poor and it has taken lots of effort to get him looking as good as he does now. A couple passionate about spitz dogs then adopted him but with 6 other dogs in the house, Rocky has been finding it all too much and stressful. He would really like a calm home without other dogs where he can relax and play with his owners. Rocky is going on an estimated 9 years of age and still enjoys regular walks and playing. If you are interested in Rocky you will need to be prepared to groom him very regularly (or get a groomer to do it) to keep his coat looking in tip top condition. Rocky is friendly and sociable but would rather not live with young children as he's an older, sensitive gent. Not sure what he's like with cats. He is currently on medication for back pain and potentially will require ongoing medication. Because Rocky has had such a poor diet most of his life, he is adjusting to new foods and suffers from a common condition known as Pica. Owners will need to manage this behaviour if it arises. Support and advice can be given. Please give Rocky the retirement he deserves. He's been through so much and just wants a place to settle and call his own.
